The BBC have opted to send home one of their Scottish pundits after the national side were knocked out of Euro 2024 on Sunday evening.

The Tartan Army fell to a 1-0 defeat against Hungary in Stuttgart, which left them with just one point from their three group games and, thus, they were eliminated.

After failing to record a single shot on target, Scotland arguably deserved to lose, although Hungary's winning goal did not arrive until the 100th minute.

Kevin Csoboth kept his composure in the final moments of the match and placed his effort into the back of the net to break the hearts of Scotland fans.

It also inadvertently broke the heart of Scottish international Rachel Corsie, who had been on punditry duty for the BBC during the tournament.

However, after Scotland's elimination, the WSL star revealed that she had been sent home by the broadcasters, which left her 'devastated'.

Taking to X, Corsie wrote: 'Devastated to be going home. Very grateful to @BBCSport for my @EURO2024 experience.

'Also, thanks to everyone for your kind support'.

A plethora of Scotland fans were quick to send well wishes to the 34-year-old after she made the announcement on Monday evening.

Corsie will be familiar with the weight the Scotland jersey holds, having made 140 appearances for the national side since making her debut in 2009.

Things could've been different for Clarke's side on the night after they were controversially denied a penalty during the match at the MHPArena.

In the 79th minute, Southampton midfielder Stuart Armstrong burst into the box before being brought down by Hungary defender Willi Orban who made definite contact with his opponent.

Armstrong tried to protect the ball with his body when a sprinting Orban went flying into the back of the Scotland star, taking out his left knee and getting in a tangle as both hit the deck.

Replays showed very little evidence to not award a penalty, but Argentinian referee Facundo Tello immediately waved away appeals from Scotland players led by Andy Robertson.

VAR quickly reviewed the incident but again ruled no further action needed by taken, much to the displeasure of Scotland fans who were left aghast at being denied a scoring chance from the spot.

Afterwards, Clarke questioned UEFA's appointment of referee Tello based on his nationality.
