JAMIE CARRAGHER NAMES WHEN MAN UTD WILL SACK ERIK TEN HAG AFTER 'MISTAKES'

Football pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has made a new prediction as to when Manchester United will sack manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag admits United made ‘mistakes’ as they suffered a humiliating and embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to Arne Slot’s side at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Dutchman has helped United clinch major trophies with the 2023 Carabao Cup and 2024 FA Cup – but he hasn’t been able to close the gap to the top sides.

The Red Devils finished as low as eighth in the Premier League last term and only scored 57 goals, the same amount as Crystal Palace and less than West Ham.

United have endured a tough start to the 2024-25 campaign, narrowly beating Fulham 1-0 with a late goal, before losing to both Brighton and Liverpool.

Ten Hag’s side are back in action on September 14 with a trip to Southampton but Carragher doesn’t think the United boss is going to last much longer at the helm.

‘I don’t think anything is going to change in terms of the football [at Man Utd],’ Carragher told Sky Sports.

‘I have seen this before at Liverpool. Go back before Jurgen Klopp came in when there was talk of Brendan Rodgers losing his job after one season.

‘They weren’t sure what to do, FSG (Liverpool’s ownership), and they kept him and Rodgers changed his staff.

‘You expect something different, but the manager is the main man. Rodgers was gone in October.

‘Ten Hag said in his interview, ‘we will see where we are at the end of the season’ – I would be surprised if he is still there at the end of the season.’

Ten Hag, meanwhile, speaking after the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, said: ‘All the three goals are mistakes from us – individual errors. Maybe about the last one, you can debate, ‘where is our double six?’ but all the others, Liverpool did brilliant. Arne took over, the turnover and the way they finished was so good.

‘Don’t argue this [that the game was level apart from the goals]. It’s clear Liverpool deserved it. We have to be humble, take this and improve our game.’
