UTAH HOCKEY CLUB SIGN TRAVIS BARRON TO ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY CONTRACT

Utah Hockey Club has announced that they have signed Travis Barron to a one-year, two-way contract.

Barron played three seasons for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL from 2018-2021 racking up 51 points in 75 career games. He captured an ECHL Kelly Cup with Utah in 2018-19.

The 25-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Tuscon Roadrunners of the American Hockey League (AHL) where he tallied 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 68 games, adding 80 penalty minutes to the stat sheet. Barron appeared in two Calder Cup Playoff games but was held pointless. In three seasons with the Roadrunners, Barron has collected 29 goals and 33 assists for 62 points and 249 penalty minutes in 182 games. Barron has also played AHL games with the Colorado Eagles.

Barron was originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round No. 191 overall in the 2016 NHL Draft following his second season with the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League. While playing in the OHL for the 67s, Barron served as captain for two seasons from 2016-2018 and collected 149 points in 250 career games.

Barron makes for another addition to the Utah Hockey Club after a busy first day of free agency which saw the team sign Sean Durzi, Ian Cole, Kevin Stenlund, Kevin Connauton, Miko Matikka and more. The club also made a shocking trade, acquiring two-time Stanley Cup champion Mikhail Sergachev from the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2024 NHL Draft.

Utah Hockey Club will open its 2024 preseason schedule against the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on September 22. They will host the Chicago Blackhawks for its home opener on October 8 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
