JETS ADD TO DEPTH WITH TWO-WAY SIGNINGS

The Winnipeg Jets signed two depth players to NHL-minimum contracts on Wednesday, with forward Mason Shaw and defenceman Haydn Fleury agreeing to one-year, two-way deals.

Shaw is a 25-year-old centre from Alberta who played 20 games for the Minnesota Wild last season, scoring once and adding two assists, with 34 minutes in penalties.

The 5-foot-10, 184-pounder was Minnesota’s fourth-round draft pick in 2017.

His contract pays him a reported $775,000 if he’s in the NHL.

Fleury, a 27-year-old from Saskatchewan, signed a similar deal.

A first-round pick by Carolina, seventh overall, in 2014, he has played 268 NHL games, 53 of them with Tampa Bay over the last two seasons, scoring one goal and five assists while recording a combined minus-5 rating with 34 penalty minutes.

A 6-foot-4, 207 pounder, Fleury’s best season was with Carolina in 2019-20, when he put up four goals, 14 points.

The signings come on the heels of Tuesday’s addition of forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan to a two-year deal averaging $775,000 in the NHL.

Anderson-Dolan played 30 games with the L.A. Kings last season, managing one goal, three assists and six penalty minutes.
