CAPOBIANCO, LIND, HUGHES SIGN WITH DALLAS STARS
On Monday, the Dallas Stars made plenty of big-time moves, but also signed a few lesser-known players toward the end of the day.
Stars general manager Jim Nill Stars announced that the club has signed defenseman Kyle Capobianco and forwards Kole Lind and Cameron Hughes.
Capobianco signed a two-year, $1.5 million contract that will be two-way in 2024-25 and one-way in 2025-26. His contract comes with the League-minimum $775,000 average annual value. Both Lind and Hughes’ contracts will be one-year, two-way deals with the same $775,000 cap hit.
Capobianco led all American Hockey League defensemen in scoring last season. In 69 games with the Manitoba Moose, the 26-year-old racked up 54 points (12 goals, 42 assists). Capobianco has played 73 career NHL games across six seasons with the Arizona Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets. He has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) over that span.
Capobianco was originally drafted by Arizona in the third round (No. 63) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
Lind played in one NHL game with the Seattle Kraken in 2023-24. He recorded two hits. He spent most of the season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL where he led the team and ranked fifth in the league with 65 points (17 goals, 48 assists). He added 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 18 playoff games, as he helped the Firebirds reach the Calder Cup Final for the second straight season.
Lind was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round (No. 33) of the 2017 NHL Draft and has eight points (two goals, six assists) in 37 career NHL games.
Hughes is an AHL defenseman with only two NHL games under his belt. The Edmonton, Alberta native has zero points in two games with the Boston Bruins. In the AHL, Hughes has racked up 226 points (82 goals, 144 assists) in 324 career games with Coachella Valley and the Providence Bruins. In 2023-24, Hughes recorded 57 points (25 goals, 32 assists in 69 regular-season games and added 16 assists in 18 Calder Cup Playoff games for Coachella Valley.
Hughes was originally drafted by Boston in the sixth round (No. 165) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
